User Support
ICT User Service Support
This service covers comprehensive user support and training for school management, administrative staff and teachers for your Management Information Systems. Your school’s licences and maintenance arrangements for all SIMS modules are also included. The licences and maintenance fee levied by Capita has been increased by 7% for 2006/07. This, together with other enhancements to our services, means that the price of this service has increased by 2% above inflation.
For those schools using Warwickshire Broadband, an enhancement to this service for 2006/07, will be a data-backup service – SWAN Datasafe – that will ensure your SIMS data is backed up and stored securely on a daily basis providing a robust disaster recovery solution. Schools can use a simple interface to access the remote backup and recover files at any time. This can be set up to run overnight and should greatly reduce the time schools currently spend on this process as well as provide an insurance policy for the future.
The DfES requires Secondary Schools to make three School Census Returns for 2006, in January, May and September. These will be applied to primary, special and nursery schools form 2007. They will replace several of the termly data collections in respect of attendance, exclusions. We will also be developing the Workforce Collection over this period and rolling out a new platform of version 7 SIMS Modules, I.e. Assessment Manager, Attendance, NovaT etc. we will ensure that full support is available to schools to meet these demands.
ICT Premium User Support
This service enhances the support you receive through the User Service and provides you with a scheduled visit to cover selected admin IT support tasks. You will receive a three hour visit each term, on a planned basis, to carry out tasks defined and prioritised by you. You choose a programme of work to include any of the following items: software support and advice for admin and management systems users, assistance with back-up and email issues, common platform upgrades, system health checks, advice on hardware upgrades, review of ICT Action Plan, SIMS updates and one-to-one training.
“The successful provision and use of management information directly supports the drive to raise standards in schools. MIS systems provide leadership teams with essential tools to support personalised learning strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their learning institutions”
Owen Lynch, Chief Executive, Becta
“A big thank you from me to you for all your help yet again during the past academic year. It really is appreciated, I couldn’t do it without you – super notes and booklets on how to do things and good constructive advice over the phone”
